During the past twenty years, we have either worked for a locally owned business, or operated our own local businesses. Our curiosity in marketing has increased many fold, during that time. The thing that has really intrigued us is the World Wide Web. We have all seen the many commercials about this Web store, or that Web business. How can this be affordable for the local business owner? How can we compete with that kind of marketing and capitol investment? Here began our quest. 

We have been looking for an inexpensive means to have a Web page for our small businesses, as well as offer Web Design to other local businesses in the community.  It seems that there are many business entities wanting to offer me their Web design and publishing services, but they are not that affordable and don't offer everything that we need.

Mike was listening to the radio and heard this great song by Alan Jackson called "The Little Man." The song is about the small local business person and their struggle with big cooperate business competition. We used this idea to create a means for "The Little Man" to compete on equal ground. The Internet is where it can be done. We can bring together local businesses on a cooperatively operated site, advertise the site, and all the businesses will benefit. What a concept! This was the birth of CU Local Biz.com.

This idea has also spread into other communities in Des Moines, Iowa, which can be found at dsmlocalbiz.com, and in Cedar Valley, Iowa, which is located at cedarvalleylocalbiz.com.
